The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C Cherry : an amazing finale to a wonderful book series

Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

Before I start my review I'd like to thanks Brittainy C Cherry and Sarah from Social Butterfly PR for their trust and for allowling me to read The Gravity of Us as an ARC

My review : There is only one tome left The Fire Between Low and High to read but I'm sure this second tome will be like the other 3 tomes . Brittainy C Cherry's writing is unparalleled in transmitting incredible and intense emotions. With The Gravity of Us, I laughed, I smiled, I was angry but I was also incredibly moved. With this author, feelings and emotions are always exacerbated because we have incredible stories, which come out of the ordinary and remain for a long time in our minds. Let's discover Graham Russell and Lucille Palmer and their tremendous history.

Lucille Palmer is an extraordinary young woman who is overflowing with love. She has this little Bohemian side with her formulas  but it is above all a person who has the heart on her sleeve. Very close to her mother, she will do everything  to fulfill the promise she made her on her deathbed, that is to say to take care of her two sisters Lyric and Mari. Each of them had an  when souvenir when their mother died: if Lucy had a heart-shaped necklace as if to show that she has her heart on her sleeve, Mari had the rocking chair that will calm her in darker times and Lyric will have the music box with a pretty ballerina inside. If her relationship with Mari is a fusional one, the relationship with Lyric will be much more chaotic. From the very first pages, we suffer a little from the meaningness  Lyric can show. She does not accept the lightness and the kind of freedom that emanate from her sister and Lyric will have very hard words towards her younger sister. It is quite the opposite with her sister Mari with whom she shares her dreams, doubts, fears and hardships. They will live side by side throughout their lives and Mari will be able to rely on her sister during a crucial period. I would not tell you more about their relationship to reveal any details from the plot but remember that a key quote will be born:  Maktub. It is a little Carpe Diem of life but with a definition closer to destiny because everything is written and despite the hardships, obstacles if love must triumph at the end, it will.

So I'm going to tell you about the personality of Lucy who will be a character who will know how to touch us in our heart. She speaks continually and even if you do her some harm, she will find in her the strength to forgive and make you part of her life again. She finds her strength in the four elements with her mother's favorite quote "Air above me, earth below me, fire in me, water surround me", which I find a superb wink from the author To her saga. Lucy embodies the optimism , sheis the one who can give you a glimpse of a sunshine in the darkness. She is also goodness and generosity . She will help Graham when he is confronted with paternity with Talon, a young pre-mature. Lucy loves her job and with her sister, she runs a flower shop, the Monnet's garden but her help will be more valuable elsewhere than in her shop. Unlike other characters, her career won't be more important than friendship and she is a person you can rely on at any moment. She knows how to bring joy and smile back to those who never smile again. I find it difficult to find a single fault with this young woman because during my reading, she never disappointed me. She has made me live intense emotions and despite all the suffering, all the setbacks, she is always there alongside the different characters. It is therefore a young woman who is able to express her feelings very keenly and who thinks more often of the happiness of others than of her own happiness. Will she be able to flourish with her companion Richard? Will she break Graham's reinforced concrete shell?

Graham Russel is a very successful science fiction and horror writer. We no longer count the times when he was at the head of bestseller sales but he is above all  a man who does not live his life fully. As soon as he is in a deadline, he becomes a king of bear that does not count his hours of work or his hours of sleep. He lives with Jane as a couple. She is a lawyer but nevertheless one can not say that the love is present. It is an atypical couple who love their career more than their companion and one can say that on this point they found themselves. Through flashback, we discover why Graham felt such hatred towards his father, also a great writer. His past has forged the human being that he has become today and it is obvious that love is a word or an emotion that he has erased from his vocabulary. One could then think that it is very difficult to appreciate this character who seems rustic, cold and distant. But we would be wrong since we know that Brittainy C Cherry won't offer us a smooth character who will know no evolution. On the contrary, the more you get to know him, the more you want to appreciate him and relieve his pain. His daily life will therefore be shaken by the arrival in his life of Talon, his little girl born premature and whose life is at risk the first months of her life. From that moment on, we feel him becoming a completely different man, ready to do anything for the happiness of his baby.

It is also at this time that Lucy will enter his life. Fate will cause them to get stuck together and make a little acquaintance. It must be said that Lucy is not really an unknown person but I let you discover it. This workaholic will have to find a balance between his profession as a writer and his new role as a father. In this novel, Brittainy C Cherry approaches the subject of paternity from two completely different angles: is one born to become a father? Is there a manual for the Super Dad? What is a good father? Can we reproduce the mistakes of the past? So I loved seeing Graham open up slightly to the others and what I loved the most is the relationship he has with his former teacher, Oliver also known as Ollie. The scenes where they are both present are very interesting because it offers a new light on the character of Graham. It is a man who does not open himself to others and yet Ollie can push him into his intrenchments while giving him valuable advice. This character embodies to perfection the paternal figure and I think that it is one of the secondary characters that made me live the most emotions. Oliver is also the one who sees what two other characters do not yet see or refuse to see. Will Graham manage to be a man and a father? Will he be able to let his family be more important than his career? Will he really appreciate Lucy?

In short, I can only recommend the reading of The Gravity of Us which is a real favorite. This is a reading I enjoyed because I did not want to say goodbye to the saga The Elements. It is a saga that I loved and even if each tome can be read independently, one must not miss any of the elements. Brittainy C Cherry is unrivaled to arouse strong emotions among readers by offering them extraordinary characters with awesome and painful stories
