All you need to know about RARE 2024

 What is RARE?

It means Romance Authors and Readers Event . It's a great book signing dedicated to both romance readers and authors . I did the one in Edinburgh in 2016 , the last one in Paris in 2019 & 2022 and I went to Rare London 18 and 19. It's THE place to be if you are a book lover like me.

Where will be RARE Paris ?

It will be on April 6th 2024 in  Paris. The place is yet to be confirmed

What are the tickets available and how much are they?

* La Early Registration are free tickets you can have for the event taking place the day before the book signing. It allows you to get your ticket for the signing and so to enter the event. But don't worry , if you can't make it, on Saturday you will be able to get you ticket at the event. At Rare Paris 19 there weren't eny early registrations. It was just a few hours before the event to get your tickets

* La Early Admission . What is the particularity of this ticket? People who have an EE can come in earlier so they can see authors in advance. Generally we have about 1 hour and a half more than GA ticket holders. The price is yet to be set but it's generally 75 euros. ( plus Eventbrite fees)

* La General Admission is about 48 euros ( plus eventbrite fees). You can join the event et 11 am up to 7 pm . These hours are subject to changes and will be announced later on.

* Le meet and Greet Cocktail/ After Party is generally taking place on saturday night, a few hours after the book signing. I'll tell you more about it later because at Rare 19 Paris there was no after party

Save the dates .

April 15th 2023 at noon : Tickets will be sold on Eventbrite. Don't forget the date and the time because tickets sell fast . You should have a paypal account , it helps to get tickets quicker.

Who needs to have a ticket?

Everyone entering the signing rooms and/or the event venue must have a ticket. All spouses, accompanying persons, friends, parents and children over 13 years of age must have a ticket. No one under the age of 13 will be allowed into the signing room.

Are there any ID requirements or age limits to attend the event?

If you do not have your paper ticket or cannot register electronically, identification is required. If you do not have a paper ticket, cannot register electronically and your ID does not have the same name as the one you purchased your ticket with, you will need to update the correct information on Eventbrite before the event.

All attendees under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. No one under the age of 13 will be admitted.

** Please note that there may be banners, book covers or other explicit material **

Will there be a limit to the number of tickets I can purchase?

Yes, only two (2) tickets per transaction for EE tickets and two (2) for GA tickets.

Do I have to add personal information to all tickets purchased?

Yes, the name, email address and age of the ticket holder must be included on each ticket. If you leave your name as the default on all tickets, then YOU will have to give the paper ticket to each person or enter with them. That person will have no recourse if there is a problem or if they lose the paper ticket if their name is not on it.

** If you are selling your ticket, it is between you and the buyer, you must change the names AND email address of the buyer and participant on all tickets - make sure you change the information on the buyer and participant ticket.

What is included in each ticket?

With an Early Entry ticket you have access to all the authors signing for the day from 9.30am to 4.45pm. An Early Entry ticket is ideal for those who have never been to a signing before and/or those who have a lot of books to sign. As there are limited quantities of EE tickets sold, Early Entry ticket holders will have access to many authors with limited queues.

The Early Entry ticket enters the signing room at 9.30 am.

The GA ticket has all day access to all authors from 11.30am to 5pm.

There is NO other difference in the tickets, no gifts, no extras - just time.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

If you sell tickets, it will be your responsibility to transfer the ticket to the new owner by updating the name, age and email address of each participant and the BUYER. Before paying for your tickets, you will be asked to enter the name, email address and age of each participant. If all the tickets are in your name, YOU must give the paper ticket to each person or enter with them. That person will have no recourse if there is a problem or if they lose the paper ticket if their name is not entered.

** If you sell your ticket, this is between you and the buyer, you must change the names AND email address on all tickets.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, log into your Eventbrite account and update your information there. If you can't find your ticket on Eventbrite 99.9% of the time, you have inadvertently used a different email address and need to log in with that.

Do I need to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes, but if you don't, you can either present your QRcode on your phone or show your ID as long as it matches the information on your ticket.

Please bring one of the following with you to the event:

Paper ticket, e-ticket or ID matching the name of the ticket purchased.

ID is required for those who appear to be under 13 years of age or who do not have a paper ticket or a means of electronic registration and this ID must match the name on the ticket.

ID is required for those who appear to be under 13 years of age or who do not have a paper ticket or a means of electronic registration and this ID must match the name on the ticket.  Tickets must match your ID so that we can check the age of each participant and purchase if the ticket is lost or if you cannot register electronically. For a smooth entry, try to make sure if possible that your name on your ID and your ticket match.

What if my name does not match the name on the ticket?

If your name is different from the name on the ticket, please access your mobile ticket. If you do not have a paper or mobile ticket, you will need proof that the ticket belongs to you.

If you have bought tickets for friends and have put your own name on all the tickets:

You will be the one to collect the wristbands to enter the event and it will be up to you to give them to your friends

Please ensure that each friend's email address is updated on the ticket as we send newsletters to all ticket holders for updates on the signing

Is there a limit to the number of items I can have signed by an author or in full at the event?

There is a limit of two items that would not be books to sign (other than bookplates - stickers for the author to sign). Some authors will have a limit on the number of books to sign/personalise, at the moment there is no limit on the number of books. If there is a change, this will be published as soon as possible in the RARE24 Paris participants' group on Facebook and can be changed at any time.

What can / cannot I bring to the event?

Feel free to bring as many books as you like, Kindle protectors, iPad protectors and/or any items you wish to have signed by the authors. No alcohol of any kind can be brought to the event.

Do I have to buy my own books?

Yes. Books will not be provided free of charge. If you would like a signed book, please bring it with you. Some authors attending will have pre-orders to bring books with them, others will not. Traditionally published books will be available from a book seller at the event. ** WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO BRING YOUR BOOKS WITH YOU TO THE EVENT *** Don't be heartbroken if your favourite author sells out or if the bookstore did not bring that title.

Will a book seller (bookstore) sell books at the event?

Yes, but a bookstore will only sell traditional titles, i.e. only titles distributed by a publisher. If the book you want is not traditionally published (the author is independent), the book seller will not have the book. We will try to have a list of all titles available for sale at the event, who is selling them (author or bookstore). The book seller can only have certain titles per author.

Will the sponsoring publishers sell books at the event?

Some of the sponsors/publishers will have a table inside the signing room and will sell their books directly at their table. Prior to the event, we will share a list of all the titles available at their tables.

Will there be food or drinks for sale at the event?

The venue has a bar and restaurants nearby (one floor below the event). Water fountains will be present throughout the signing room.

Will I be able to go out and come in as I please?

As long as you have your wristband to show to security, you can re-enter. Food and drink will be downstairs in the mall area.

Is there a place for me to leave my jackets/sweaters?

Not at this time.

Will there be a place for me to sit?

Please note that there will not be as many chairs / seats as we usually provide.

Is there a dress code for the event?

No. You will be on your feet all day and the rooms tend to get hot, so please dress comfortably, with comfortable shoes, and dress in clothes that you can remove as you go.

Will the list of authors change?

Yes, the list of authors is subject to change at any time. Ticket sales are final regardless of cancellations. Authors take bookings very seriously and confirm after careful consideration. If they cancel, it is due to a scheduling conflict, illness or emergency.
