Flirting with 40 , an amazing new romcom by K Bromberg

An all new flirty, lighthearted, standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg guaranteed to make you swoon.

Blakely Foxx is having one of those years.

Her divorce may have been finalized a few months ago, but her ex is already engaged to someone half her age. Her younger boss is determined to sabotage her chance at getting the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make matters worse, she’s closing in on the big 4-0. There isn’t enough wine or ice cream in the world to convince her things will turn around.

When Blakely meets Slade Henderson, she’s left wondering why an early-thirties, hotter than hell, cardiothoracic surgeon would take an interest in her.

She’s been warned that he’ll break her heart, but she’s willing to take the chance. Not only is he helping her get that promotion, but in the process, he’s encouraging her to find the parts of herself she’s lost over the past few years.

Slade shows her that good guys really do exist, but who knew the hardest part about turning forty would be realizing the man you thought was a rebound, is actually your happily ever after?

Review :

I had this ARC in exchange of an honest review.

K Bromberg delivers a new romcom which will not only charm us because Slade is a hero who will seduces us immediately but who will find a certain echo in us. Love is hiding everywhere no matter how old we are, no matter what body we have. We just need to open our eyes and take a leap of faith.

Blakely Foxx walks into her bar after a bad day at work, and she absolutely never expected to run into a man who would literally change her life. With her forties approaching and the trials of life having made their way into her life, she couldn't imagine finding a new dynamism in her everyday life. Professionally, she's on the verge of getting the promotion she's been working for years. She has never spared her efforts and contrary to what Heather thinks, she is not outdated. Age is a factor she must take into account because at work her "boss" makes her feel that she is has-been and that she doesn't understand new market demands. What she doesn't understand is that Blake is an asset to the Glam Company and that she is looking for an enemy where there is none. So I liked the confrontation between the two women because it is two generations confronting each other but they won't use the same weapons to fight. Age is therefore one of the driving elements of our plot because Blake doesn't understand that a younger man can be interested in her. She lacks self-confidence and any excuse is good to take her distances and dismiss the obvious.

Her meeting with Slade will therefore inevitably change things because he will push her buttons. This napkin will contain things to achieve in her life and he will push her but in a beneficial and saving way. I loved the relationship that they will manage to develop because if at the beginning it is about a false relationship to confront Heather, it is obvious that chemistry is here. With him, she will dare to surpass herself and get out of her comfort zone. She will also fight to defend her ideas and the confidence that emanates from our hero will inevitably be poured out on our heroine. These five days of seminars in the wilderness will not only be here to strengthen the bonds between Blake and his colleagues but it will open her eyes on many aspects in her life. I liked the character of Blake because she is reliable to me and I can find myself in her with my uncertainties, my doubts and my fears. Through the pages, we will see her gain confidence and we hope that she will be strong enough to see this evidence reaching out to her. Her life spent with her ex, Paul, has left traces which, we hope, will not be indelible but the fight will be tough. The victory could be great if our heroine believes in her

Slade Henderson is our 31 year old hero. He has all the assets to charm us and to conquer us: he is charming but he doesn't overuse it, he is generous and full of empathy, he has the gift of relaxing the atmosphere and opening up to other. He also knows how to identify people and this advantage will be crucial during this seminar because identifying her allies will be an asset for Blake. It will open up unexpected perspectives for her while her own life is at a standstill. Cardiac surgeon, he is waiting for a decision which could turn his life upside down but he will have no regrets because what he does, he does with empathy in mind. We will hold our breath at his side, hoping that this obstacle will resolve itself, but we know that basically his actions are justified. He's really great and I loved the scenes where our two heroes talk heartily. He won't hesitate to push her to give the best of herself. He's never had the time to devote his energy to a worthy woman but one wonders if fate would not have put him in Blake's path for a very specific reason. He is a man who deserves to be known and we hope that at the end of this special interlude, he will know how to give new meaning to his life.

In short, I had a great time reading Slade and Blake's story that I loved. All the ingredients are there to make us have a great time in their company. The plot can only speak to us and the characters are all equally interesting. Flirting with 40 is K Bromberg's new romantic comedy that needs to be devoured urgently.
