Mon avis: Quel roman ! Quel héros! Que d'émotions! J'ai passé un excellent moment de lecture en découvrant le second tome de la saga Lies, Hearts & truths qui se focalise sur les enfants du couple emblématique formé par Violet et Alex Waters. Un pur régal et un vrai délice. 

Maverick Waters est un étudiant de 21 ans mais sa maturité va bien au delà. Il est évident que le passé familial a forgé ce héros qui porte une telle pression sur les épaules qu'on se demande comment il fait pour résister. Il éprouve aussi une énorme culpabilité suite à des événements survenus alors qu'il n'avait que 8 ans. Et comment vivre dans l'ombre de son immense père, célèbre et érigé au statut de légende? Quand on le découvre, on sent très vite que c'est un jeune bien, voire très bien. Il ne ressemble pas à ses autres amis et la famille est très importante pour lui. La réussite aussi bien scolaire que sportive est primordiale mais on verra qu'elle sera une autre source de soucis. Pendant l'été, il a eu une rencontre d'un soir et quelle ne sera pas sa surprise en découvrant qu'il s'agit de son nouveau professeur d'écriture créative. Les tensions et la tentation seront bien présentes tout au long de ce récit qui nous fera vivre de sacrées émotions. Il sera un parfait gentleman et on verra son instinct protecteur ressortir plus vite que son ombre. Le goût de l'interdit ne sera jamais loin mais il ne sera pas un jeune homme guidé uniquement par ses hormones. Il trouvera chez Clover aussi une oreille attentive et quelqu'un avec qui parler ouvertement de ce qui le trouble. On sera aussi les témoins privilégiés de sa relation avec sa sœur Lavender. J'ai aimé les moments à deux mais aussi avec son père Alex. C'est très émouvant et très enrichissant. 

Clover Sweet est une jeune femme de 29 ans qui prendra un poste de professeur intérim et qui sera aussi très intéressante à découvrir. Son futur ex mari sera clairement un point sensible chez elle car il sera une épine sous le pied dont elle ne parviendra pas à se défaire. Sa présence sera clairement l'occasion pour l'autrice de développer un arc narratif secondaire mais aussi complémentaire du premier. Clover peut heureusement compter sur sa voisine et meilleure amie Sophia pour l'aider à aller de l'avant et pour la conseiller quand le trouble sera présent. En effet Gabriel Lockwood sera cette menace tenace et on va vite comprendre qu'il sera très difficile de l'effacer de sa vie. Comme le disait OScar Wilde, la meilleure façon de résister à la tentation est d'y céder mais avec Maverick, elle restera sur ses gardes. Elle s'est laissée aller et a profité d'un moment doux et sensuel mais elle ne veut plus que cela se reproduise. Son éthique est importante mais elle sent aussi qu'il apportera un plus dans sa vie. Il sera souvent là pour là, tel un preux chevalier et il va lui apporter une aide inattendue et pourtant si précieuse. Quand l'heure des choix aura sonner, nos deux héros pourraient compter l'un sur l'autre pour aller de l'avant ou foncer droit dans le murs. 

Bref, vous l'avez compris, j'ai passé un excellent moment de lecture et retrouver la famille Waters est toujours l'assurance de passer un bon moment. Violet est toujours égale à elle-même, Aex sera très émouvant et les enfants de ces héros ont tous quelque chose à nous offrir. Ce second tome est une très belle réussite tout en étant complétement différent ( mais complémentaire) du premier tome.

Mon avis sur Little Lies d'Helena Hunting.

Je ne veux pas de toi. Tu ne veux rien dire pour moi.

J'ai enfoncé la lame et je l'ai regardé tomber.

Des années plus tard, je suis confronté à tous les petits mensonges, aux contre-vérités, aux fausses réalités, aux dégâts que j'ai infligés, alors que tout ce que je voulais, c'était me livrer à mon obsession.
Lavender Waters est la princesse de la tour. Même son nom est la matière des contes de fées.
J'étais celui qui l'a sauvée. Encore et encore.
Mais je ne veux plus la sauver.

Je veux juste prétendre que les mensonges sont toujours la vérité.

Avant de vous donner mon avis le plus complet, je tiens à remercier Helena Hunting pour sa confiance et Social Buttlerfly PR pour m'avoir permis de lire en ARC ce roman. 

Mon avis : J'attendais ce tome sur Lavender Waters depuis la parution de A secret for a secret et je savais que l'histoire serait intense. J'ai adoré chaque moment , chaque scène et ce fut un très grand plaisir de revoir les enfants des héros que nous avions découvert dans la saga Pucked. Helena Hunting nous offre ici une romance New Adult parfaite et qui nous fera vivre de vives émotions. 

Lavender Waters est la fille de Violet et Alex et bien évidemment , elle est entourée de ses trois frères. Son frère jumeau River avec qui elle partage forcément un lien spécifique mais aussi ses frères Maverick et Robbie. Sa famille est très protectrice car Lavender est une enfant qui a connu une enfance très particulière. Certaines circonstances ont fait qu'elle s'est forgée une carapace et ses mots ne sortaient pas comme elle le voulait. Au fil des années ( nous la découvrirons alors qu'elle n'a que 6 ans et ce roman se termine alors qu'elle en a 21 ) , nous allons voir cette jeune femme grandir et se forger une défense impitoyable. Dès le début , nous comprenons qu'elle a tissé un lien particulier avec Kodiac mais qu'un événement a brisé ce lien pourtant si important. Les Waters ont donc dû faire face à leur manière à ces rebondissements , à ces crises de paniques et à cette souffrance incroyable. Grâce à Queenie que nous avions découvert dans A secret for a secret, nous avions pu voir l'évolution psychologique de ce personnage et en apprécier chaque élément. 

Lavender est une artiste incroyable qui se cherche car bien qu'elle aimerait avoir son indépendance, elle sait qu'elle doit fait des pas de bébés avant de se lancer dans une aventure et dans l'inconnu. C'est pourquoi lorsqu'elle va rejoindre la fac, elle sera en collocation avec ses frères pour être rassurée. Pourtant , on sent très vite que cette situation risque bien de l'étouffer car le passé a laissé des stigmates et River est sans aucun doute celui qui la surprotège le plus. Ce lien de gémellité est bien évident une des raisons mais les démons du passé seront aussi de la partie. De plus , quand elle va devoir faire de nouveau face à Kodiak, la tension va monter d'un cran. Par le biais de flashbacks, nous comprenons qu'ils ont tissé un lien très fort et on se demande donc ce qui a pu se passer pour qu'ils en arrivent là. La haine semble avoir laissé place à l'amour et dans ces cas tous les coups sont permis mais notre héroïne aura t-elle les épaules assez fortes pour assumer encore longtemps les piques et les humiliations que son ancien meilleur ami lui inflige régulièrement? Si de son côté l'amour est toujours au rendez vous, on se demande si elle parviendra à tourner définitivement la page et à aller de l'avant tout en se construisant un avenir en adéquation avec ses ambitions. 

Kodiac Bowman est le fils de Rook , héros que nous avions découvert dans le 1er tome de la saga All in à savoir A lie for a lie. Le milieu du hockey est évidemment très présente car entre Rook et les héros de la saga Pucked, nous avons encore des sportifs de haut niveau. Nous décelons très vite un héros torturé et heureusement nous avons des chapitres écrits de son point de vue pour nous éclairer sur certains points. Il n'est pas le jumeau de notre héroïne et pourtant ils se comprenaient sans que des mots soient échangés. On peut comprendre qu'un amour aussi puissant ne puisse pas être crédible aux yeux des personnages extérieurs à leur bulle et cela pourrait aussi créer des incompréhensions et de la jalousie. Alors qu'environ trois années se sont écoulées, il est évident que le lien qui a existé a été brutalement rompu. Ce fil d'Ariane qui a jalonné leur enfance ne peut plus être d'actualité et il fera tout pour l'éviter. Ce ne sera pas simple de démêler le vrai du faux et faire mal pourrait laisser des traces indélébiles. Des choix judicieux seront donc à faire tout en prenant en compte des facteurs sur lesquels ils n'ont aucun poids. Le combat sera donc épique et l'issue pourrait être fatale. 

Bref j'ai adoré l'histoire de Lavender et Kodiac car même si nous ne sommes pas dans la comédie pure et dure que nous avions connue avec les sagas Pucked et All in , l'intensité dramatique saura nous combler du début à la fin. Quel plaisir aussi de retrouver Violet dans un autre contexte et voir une facette tellement attendrissante d'elle. Helena Hunting nous offre une excellent histoire qu'on ne peut de dévorer et adorer.

I was looking forward reading this new book on Lavender Waters since the release of A secret for a secret and I knew the story would be intense. I loved every moment, every scene and it was a great pleasure to see the children of the heroes we discovered in the Pucked series Helena Hunting offers us here a perfect New Adult romance that will make us experience strong emotions.

Lavender Waters is Violet and Alex's daughter and of course, she is surrounded by her three brothers. Her twin brother River with whom she necessarily shares a specific bond but also her brothers Maverick and Robbie. Her family is very protective of her because Lavender is a child who had a very special childhood. Certain circumstances caused her toprotect herself and her words did not come out the way she wanted them to. Over the years (we'll learne more about her when she's only 6 and this novel ends when she's 21), we'll see this young woman grow up and forge a ruthless defense. From the start, we understand that she forged a special bond with Kodiac, but an event broke this bond, which was so important. The Waters therefore had to face these twists and turns, these panic attacks and this incredible suffering in their own way. Thanks to Queenie, whom we discovered in A secret for a secret, we were able to see the psychological evolution of this character and appreciate every element of it.

Lavender is an incredible artist who seeks herself because although she would like to have her independence, she knows that she must take baby steps before embarking on an adventure and into the unknown. That's why when she goes to college, she will be sharing accomadations with her brothers to be reassured. However, we quickly feel that this situation is likely to suffocate her because the past has left scars and River is undoubtedly the one who overprotects her the most. This twins' link is obviously one of the reasons, but the demons of the past will also be there. In addition, when she has to face Kodiak again, the tension will rise a notch. Through flashbacks, we understand that they have forged a very strong bond and so we wonder what could have happened to get them there. Hatred seems to have given way to love and all blows are allowed but will our heroine be strong enough to bear for a long time the accusations and humiliations that her former best friend inflicts on her regularly? If for her part love is still there, we wonder if she will be able to definitively turn the page and move forward while building a future in line with her ambitions.

Kodiac Bowman is the son of Rook, a hero we discovered in the 1st book of the All in series, namely A lie for a lie. The hockey world is obviously very present because between Rook and the heroes of the Pucked series, we still have top athletes. We very quickly detect a tortured hero and fortunately we have chapters written from his point of view to enlighten us on certain points. He is not the twin of our heroine and yet they understood each other without words being exchanged. It is understandable that such a powerful love can't be credible in the eyes of the characters outside their bubble and it could also create misunderstandings and jealousy. About three years later, it is obvious that the bond that has existed has been brutally severed. This breadcrumb trail that marked their childhood can no longer be relevant and  they will do everything to avoid it. It will not be easy to disentangle the truth from the false news and doing wrong could leave an indelible mark. Judicious choices will therefore have to be made while taking into account factors over which they have no influence. The fight will therefore be epic and the outcome could be fatal.

To recap, I loved the story of Lavender and Kodiac because even if we are not into the type of comedy  we had known with the Pucked and All in series, the dramatic intensity will be there to fill us from the beginning to the end. What a pleasure also to find Violet in another context and to see such a touching side of her. Helena Hunting offers us an excellent story that we love from the begginning to the end.
